Edited by Captain E. J. Solano
JOHN MURRAY, London, 1916
An original WW1 British Army manual, first published in May 1915 by John Murray as part of the 'Imperial Army Series'. This revised second edition was printed in May 1916. The book includes details of the theory and practise of machine gun warfare on the Western Front. It covers a great deal of useful information that a junior officer or NCO would need to know about the operation and tactical use of the standard machine guns of the British Army in 1916, from fire control, ballistics, range-finding and a wide range of tactical applications, to the latest information on German machine gun tactics. A detailed and practical machine gun training handbook, with information on the Vickers .303 heavy machine gun and the more portable Lewis Gun. Illustrated with photographs, it also includes several interesting advertisements for officers trench equipment, luminous watches and trench coats.
