AIR BOARD
TECHNICAL NOTES

AIR BOARD / R.F.C., London, 1918

A rare original WW1 edition of Air Board Technical Notes, dating from February 1918. It would have been used by pilots, observers, airmen, fitters and riggers of the RFC and RNAS during WW1. The cover has the emblems of both the Royal Naval Air Service and the Royal Flying Corps above the title. First issued in 1917, with amendments added in early 1918, this is a detailed and practical manual, with technical, rigging and maintenance instructions for RFC and RNAS aircraft in service in 1917-1918. Produced by the Air Board, the manual is very well illustrated throughout with numerous diagrams, fold-outs, technical drawings and photographs.

The manual includes details of 21 aircraft: BE2c, BE2d, S.E.5A, Spad Biplane (Type S. VII), Bristol Fighter F2A and F2B, DH.4., DH.5., DH.6., D.H.9., RE8, Martinsyde Scout, Sopwith F.1 and 2.F.1 Camel, Sopwith Strutter, Sopwith Dolphin, Sopwith  Pup, Maurice Farman Shorthorn and Longhorn, Vickers FB9, and the Nieuport Scout. Many of the Royal Flying Corps most celebrated aircraft are represented in this historic aviation manual.
