A Victorian Brass box English pocket compass, dating from c.1840-1880. The compass has a brass box case, push-fit lid, a delicate blued needle with gilt North and South markers, a brass pivot, and a paper compass card. The compass has no maker’s marks, but is characteristic of English designs produced during the mid to late Victorian era by well known makers such as Francis Barker & Son and J. H. Steward. Condition:
In very good condition, and full working order. The compass finds North very well. With general signs of age, and some minor marks to the case. The lid is a very good fit. The paper compass card, needle and glass are in very good condition.
