A.F.V. RECOGNITION

Part II: Enemy Turreted AFVs (1943)

WAR OFFICE, London, 1943

A rare original WW2 A.F.V. recognition manual, published by the War Office in 1943. This edition was printed in August 1943. A restricted document with a limited circulation, AFV Recognition Part II - Enemy Turreted AFVs includes details, specifications and illustrations of German, Italian, Japanese and other captured European tanks and armoured cars in use at that time. Among the many enemy vehicles covered are the German Tiger Tank, the Pz Kw III, and numerous light, medium and heavy tanks and armoured vehicles of the Axis powers. There are also details of Czech and French tanks which were captured and reused by the German army. The book is very well illustrated throughout, with numerous diagrams, line drawings and photographs. A few pages are numbered but left blank, no doubt intended for the addition of any notes that were made in the field. There are also some neat handwritten notes on armament, and several pasted in amendments and revisons, including details of the latest Pz Kw VI Tiger and Panther Pz Kw V tanks.
