COUNTRY LIFE Ltd, London, 1943

The first and only edition of Eric Kennington's visual record of British tank crews during the early years of the Second World War, undated, but published in 1943. Tanks and Tank-Folk, is a collection of illustrations from Kennington's time with the 11th Armoured Division near Ripon in Yorkshire. It is very well illustrated with black and white and colour plates, and includes the Introduction "The Royal Armoured Corps" by Humphrey Moore, and "With the Tank-Folk" by Eric Kennington.

Eric Kennington (1888-1960): was an English sculptor, artist and illustrator, and an official war artist in both World Wars. As a war artist, Kennington specialised in depictions of the daily hardships endured by soldiers and airmen. In the inter-war years he worked mostly on portraits and a number of book illustrations. The most notable of his book illustrations were for T. E. Lawrence's Seven Pillars of Wisdom.  Kennington was also a gifted sculptor, best known for his 24th Division War Memorial in Battersea Park, and for the effigy of Lawrence at Wareham in Dorset.
