THE NCO's MUSKETRY
SMALL BOOK

2nd Lieut. J. BOSTOCK

Published by W. H. SMITH & SON, London, 1915

A rare original British Army musketry handbook covering the use of the Mk III Lee Enfield Service Rifle. Subjects covered include: essentials for musketry instructors, sequence of musketry training, care of arms and mechanisms, theory, visual training and judging distance, aiming and firing, marksmanship, fire discipline, sub-target rifle machines, ranges, landscape targets, rates of fire, range and trajectory tables, penetration of modern rifles, etc. There are also a number of Standard Test Forms bound into the book.

The book is signed by '2nd Lt. H. Starkie, 13th Yorks.' 2/Lt Starkie has filled in his own (very impressive) musketry practice scores on page 2. He has also added the serial number of his service revolver, '191695 Mk, VI '16.'

The Musketry Small Book proved to be very popular during WW1 and was produced in several editions from 1914 onwards - this is the seventh edition. A comprehensive and detailed handbook, intended for use both in training and in the front line.
