Company Officer's Handbook of the German Army (1944)
COMPANY OFFICER’S HANDBOOK OF THE GERMAN ARMY
PREPARED BY MILITARY INTELLIGENCE DIVISION, WAR DEPARTMENT, March 1944
A rare, original, WW2 US Army company officer’s intelligence handbook, covering the tactics, formations, units, and weapons of the German army. A ‘restricted’ document, it was issued in March 1944, just before the D-Day landings and the allied invasion of Europe. Subjects covered include: enemy methods of attack and defence, support weapons (machine guns, howitzers, mortars, and rockets), small arms, (rifles, pistols, submachine guns and grenades), AFV’s and tanks, mines and booby traps, combat teams, and organization of units (infantry, armoured, tanks, artillery, mortar, etc). There is also a section on German military symbols. The manual is very well illustrated throughout with diagrams, tables, and photographs. There are some excellent photographs of the standard German small arms, rifles, and pistols in use in 1944.
In good condition. The card cover is in good condition, with minor signs of wear and use, slightly creased corners, and a few marks. The binding is good and secure. The text, photographs, and illustrations are in very good condition.
