With small ink stamps of the 'Military Attache, Polish Embassy, Washington' on the front and rear cover. A ‘restricted’ document, it was issued in September 1943, during the preparations for the D-Day landings and the allied invasion of Europe. Subjects covered include: organization of units, command and staff, uniforms and insignia, infantry, cavalry, infantry weapons, artillery, Panzer troops, engineers, signals, chemical warfare troops, SS, Police, paramilitary organizations, German Air Force, tactics, and fortifications. With details of enemy methods of attack and defence, support weapons (machine guns, howitzers, artillery, etc), small arms, AFV’s and tanks, and organization of units. The handbook is very well illustrated throughout with diagrams, fold-outs, tables, and photographs. There are also nine excellent colour plates showing the uniforms and insignia of the German Army and the Luftwaffe.
