Rifle and field Exercises 1909 was intended for the use of Naval Shore parties and other Naval formations employed in land based operations. Several editions were produced in the years leading up to WW1, and they were used by the RNAS, the Royal Naval Division, and the Royal Marines on the Western Front. Illustrated with photographs, diagrams and line drawings, the book covers the standard Navy rifle drill, firing exercises, squad, company and battalion drills. With sections on the use of the Lee Enfield Mk I rifle, Webley Pistol, bayonet fighting, Field Gun Drill, etc, and excellent diagrams of the Lee Enfield rifle, bayonet, and rifle and pistol webbing.
Condition:
In very good condition. The boards are in very good condition, with minor signs of use. The binding and hinges are very good and secure. The text and illustrations are in very good condition. There is a 1910 dated bookplate of the Royal United Service Institution on the front endpapers.
