War Office, 1915

Printed by H.M.S.O., London, 1915

The February 1915 edition of the WW1 British General Staff publication, Notes From the Front Part III and Further Notes on Field Defences. This booklet includes the latest information on developments in trench warfare, including German tactics, rifle and bayonet, frostbite, enemy ruses, espionage, artillery, ammunition, explosives, field defences, trenches, French grenades, German insignia, maps, communications, concealment, and much more. Incorporating the lessons learned during the Aisne battles at the start of the war, it would have been an invaluable item of kit for any British officer serving at the front at the start of 1915.

The booklet is illustrated with line drawings and diagrams of trenches and defensive positions, machine gun posts, grenades, fuzes, etc. A very interesting and important original document from February 1915.
